CDA101: LAND AT 61 SMITHFIELD/9 FRANCIS STREET, BELFAST
I refer to your further letter about the above, dated 2 November 1990.
It is clear from what you say that a misunderstanding has arisen in relation to the £300,000 figure mentioned in Mr Taylor's 11 July 1990 letter. The position is that the consideration figure in question was not paid to the Department in respect of the above-mentioned land alone; it covered a substantially larger area of land in this general area and represented the Valuation and Lands Office's assessment of the value of the said land. The money has not be distributed as such by the Department.
The position is that the Department is open to receive compensation claims from interest holders in the land which was acquired under the vesting order made in connection with the CDA101 development scheme. To date the Department has no record of having received a claim on behalf of your brother in respect of land at the above location. I regret, therefore, that there is no further action which the Department can take in the meantime. I must emphasise that if you wish to pursue the matter further you should contact the Solicitor acting for your brother and/or the Official Solicitor.
