Bamber in bid for freedom

By JUSTIN PENROSE

Mass killer Jeremy Bamber is launching a new appeal after it was revealed police did not disclose almost half a million pieces of evidence to his defence team.
Bamber, 43, who has spent 18 yeas in jail, has always denied gunning down the five members of his adoptive family at their farmhouse in Tolleshunt D'Arcy, Essex, for a 500,000 inheritance in 1985. He has twice failed to clear his name.
His legal team are demanding another appeal after discovering police did not disclose 427,000 documents at his original trial - including 173 unseen photographs.
Essex Police will not hand them over so his legal team will go to court.
His lawyer Giovanni di Stefano said: "It's a disgrace. Who knows what could be in those 500,000-odd pieces of evidence?
"Here we have massive non-disclosure of gargantuan proportions. He must have an appeal as his conviction is unsafe."
