MR. FREDERICK ANDREWS, who has died suddenly at 14 Castlehill Road, Belfast, was for many years one of the best known figures in motorcar sales, and was the founder of Andrews and Co. of Smithfield, Belfast. He was 77.
Mr. Andrews was a member of a family with close links with cycle, motorcycle and motor sport in the early days, and as a youth competed in a number of motorcycle events. He was one of the earliest competitors in the Ulster Grand Prix. He took part as well in some of the early hill climb events.
He started business in Gresham Street in the cycle and motorcycle business, and later moved to premises at Smithfield which he expanded, and which the firm still occupies.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.
